Former Rift Valley regional commissioner George Natembeya has asked Kenyans to be cautious of politicians out to cause violence.
He called for tough sanctions against all those that were behind the attack on former Prime minister Raila Odinga entourage in Uasin Gishu county on Friday.
Speaking to the Star in Kitale, Natembeya said it was regrettable that politicians misuse the youths for violence.
"I call upon the youths of this country not to be used by politicians as we head into the election, anyone found participating in chaos should carry their own cross," he said.
"The attack shouldn’t be condoned at all, it may make investors to shy away."
Natembeya expressed concerns on the remarks made by politicians from across the political divide.
He told the leaders to avoid the temptation of being 'divisive and reckless' during public meetings.
“The use of vulgar language is wrong and shameful especially when it comes from MPs and those aspiring for bigger offices in this country," he said.
Natembeya lauded the government for the fertiliser subsidy, saying that it's a boost to maize farmers who had lost hope.
"I commend Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya for reducing the price of fertiliser and he should ensure it is availed to farmers through a transparent system to deter cartels from infiltrating the process," he said.
Natembeya, further urged the government to quickly sought out the fuel shortage because farmers who depend on diesel have not ploughed their land a head of planting season.
Elsewhere, Trans Nzoia county Women Representative Janet Nangabo challenged politicians to remain civil, peaceful and ethical while seeking for votes.
She said those paying youths to cause mayhem should use their own sons if they think whatever they are doing is good.
"Leaders are misusing other peoples’ children giving them illicit drinks and encouraging hooliganism. This is shameful, go use your children instead," she said.
She asked investigative agencies to ensure those behind acts of lawlessness are charged.
