- Exercise is going on in Baringo Central, Mogotio, Baringo North, Eldama-Ravine and Baringo South
- Baringo is the home turf of Senator Gideon Moi who also eyes for presidency
Deputy President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance party targets to register over 200,000 members in Baringo county.
The registration exercise was officially launched in Kabarnet town, Baringo Central subcounty on Friday.
"We are doing this to ensure the DP gets massive support in his bid to enter State House in 2022" UDA Baringo Central chairman Jeremiah Chesirwo said.
He said by the end of the process, they expect to bring on board over 200,000 members across the county.
Chesirwo said so far, the party has registered 10,000 and will reach their target within the next one week.
"We are inviting everyone to join us since the political party has a national outlook," he said.
He said the exercise is currently going on in the five subcounties of Baringo North, Mogotio, Baringo Central, Eldama-Ravine and Baringo South.
Tugen council elder Paul Koros and leader Cynthia Jerotich invited new members to join saying the party has a lot of support in Baringo.
Koros said as an elder on the ground, they have seen the party's portfolio supports the interests of youth, women and the elderly.
Chesirwo further said the exercise under patronage of Baringo Central MP Joshua Kandie is being conducted for free.
He said the party's county regional offices launch will be done in due course and will be attended by many leaders.
"What we are doing now is just registration and during the process we have instructed our officials to strictly adhere to the Covid-19 protocols" he said.
The county is the backyard of Senator Gideon Moi who is also eyeing presidency.
Gideon is accused for abandoning his people at the grassroots and failing to address their plights since he was reelected back in 2017.
