The meeting to inform the  Maa community about the Building Bridges Initiative report will be held at Narok Stadium on February 21.

After intense consultations at a Kajiado hotel on Wednesday, the leaders agreed that the meeting would be hosted at the stadium.

According to the BBI programme, the meeting had been scheduled to take place at the historic Suswa Grounds in Narok East subcounty on February 17 but it has been changed and merged with the Narok meeting.

The rally will bring together the leaders and the people of Narok, Kajiado and Samburu counties.

The meeting was attended by Narok Governor Samuel Tunai, his Kajiado counterpart Joseph Lenku, Nominated Senator Judith Pareno, MPs Moitalel  Kenta (Narok North) and Korei Lemein (Narok South).

Also, Ken Aramat (Narok East), Gabriel Tongoyo (Narok West), Joseph Manje (Kajiado North), George Sunkuyia (Kajiado West) and about 80 MCAs from both Narok and Kajiado counties.

The leaders also formed a committee that will discuss issues to be presented to the BBI taskforce team and assist in the planning and logistics.

The Narok rally is among a series planned across the country to deepen public participation and get feedback on the BBI report.

Kisii, Kakamega and Mombasa have played host to the rallies while more regional meetings are planned in Kitui, Meru and Nakuru.

Tunai, who is leading the campaigns in support of BBI in Narok, said all leaders from his county had resolved that all residents will be free to participate.

He said the meeting is the best chance for the Maa people and Kenyans at large to address pressing problems.

“Kenya is bigger than individuals and this new document has now given us another time to forge as a country and achieve a common goal,” said Tunai.

Lenku said until the problems plaguing Kenyans are resolved, the country will remain divided.

Kenta urged the leaders to avoid partisan politics and support the BBI by rallying their people behind the new report "that will change Kenya".

“This is the time to unite as a country and as the Maa community we have issues like historical land injustices and the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Report, which need to be addressed," he said. "We want an inclusive Kenya that will eliminate marginalisation,” he said.
