The Catholic Diocese of Lodwar has launched a campaign to fight graft by publishing the names of corrupt people in Turkana county.

Catholic bishops had earlier launched an anti-graft campaign in Subukia and all bishops have joined the drive to help mandated bodies fight graft.

While launching the campaign, Bishop Dominic Kimingich said the church will focus on people mandated to provide services to the public but instead divert public funds to their personal use.

"The church will soon expose such people with the aim of bringing sanity to the people who are tired of corruption, " he said.

The Justice and Peace Commission working in the grassroots will publish names of corrupt individuals in the revived magazine Sauti ya Jamii.

Bishop Kimingich said cattle rustling in Turkana is also a source of corruption as rustlers have commercialised cattle theft.

Jairus Alinga of the Catholic Justice and Peace Commissioner said the campaign will extend to all parishes.

"The Justice and Peace Commission that works in the grassroots will publish the names of corrupt individuals in the revived magazine called Sauti ya Jamii," he said.

The Catholic diocese undertook to take a vow and sign Ant-Corruption Documents as a sign of commitment.

Michael Mugambi, the diocesan coordinator for the commission, said battle should not be left to the government alone but should be fought by all citizens.
