Leaders from Turkana county and Uganda have agreed to return livestock raided from both countries.
Last week, the Uganda People’s Defense Forces raided Loima subcounty in Turkana and drove away livestock.
Earlier, bandits from Turkana had raided Kotido District of northern Uganda.
On Sunday, Captain Ephraim Byaruhanga of the UPDF-Uganda said the security team in northern Uganda will hold the animals until livestock stolen from their country are returned.
Byaruhanga met Turkana Deputy Governor Peter Lokoel, Senator John Munyes, Turkana West MP Daniel Epuyo and Loima MP Protus Akuja at Kotido district.
Lokoel said Kenya and Uganda have invested a lot in restoring peace among pastoralists on the Kenya-Uganda border.
“We cannot spoil peace in a day because of one incident of banditry. We will pursue the raiders and return the animals,” the deputy governor said.
Munyes said the peace enjoyed along the border for six years must be maintained.
