PRESIDENT Uhuru Kenyatta should ensure a proper formula for attaining the gender rule in Parliament, minority deputy chief whip Chris Wamalwa has said.
Wamalwa termed unconstitutional the proposal to implement the gender rule progressively by Constitutional Affairs Committee chairman Samuel Chepkonga.
“Applying the rule progressively means it can go up to 2022 or 2030,” the Kiminini MP said.
“The danger of this is that any Kenyan can go to court to compel the dissolution of Parliament.”
Wamalwa was speaking at Kiminini village on Monday during the burial of Kabianga University student Edith Ofubwa.
Responding to Deputy President William Ruto’s call on Saturday for him to defect to Jubilee, Wamalwas said he is “comfortable in Cord”.
