Two MPs have asked the anti-graft agency to investigate claims of misuse of funds, corruption and irregular staff hiring in Bomet county.

said the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, controller of budget and the office of the internal auditor should launch investigations in all the county's departments.
They said the Bomet assembly had proven the county’s system is ineffective hence a probe is required to bring sanity to the management of resources.
Deputy Governor Stephen Mutai welcomed the probe.
The call by the leaders comes in the wake of a report released two weeks ago by the county Finance and ICT
Committee, which was vetting some officers.
The report says the county chief finance officer Rose Kositany forged certificates to secure her job.
It also accuses the officer of using her position to misuse public funds.
Speaking in Bomet on Monday during an education stakeholder forum, the two MPs said
the only way out to regain public trust is to carry out an intensive investigation on all county operations.
“There is need to stop county officials who are awarding themselves tenders and contracts, which is illegal and causing conflict of interest in service delivery,” Tonui said.
National Water Conservation and Pipeline Corporation chairman Julius Kones, who was also at the forum, said:
“The cries by the MCAs are valid. We are aware that some staff have questionable qualifications yet they are holding crucial positions that control funds."
"It is time action is taken to save the county from lagging behind in development due to corruption and swindling of funds by greedy officers.”
The leaders
said some nominated MCAs are being used by the executive to undermine the assembly’s role.
