Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris has now advised people to block those who are bringing negative energy to their space.
In an undated video posted on X by TV47 on Friday, Passaris while responding to a question said it is important for people to protect their energy.
She said that can be done by blocking people who bring negative energy to your space.
"I don't like negative energy, I don't block people on Twitter, even though I have 760,000 followers but those who give me negative energy and have got nothing nice to say," the Nairobi Woman Representative said.
Passaris advised people to follow suit and block those people who are hellbent on spreading negative energy, especially on social media.
"There are seven billion people in the world so you can choose who you want to associate with or who you want in your space," Passaris said.
"When I'm on my Twitter page and you don't have something nice today or you wake up in the morning and all you want to do is to take a swipe at me, I don't need you in my space."
The legislator highlighted the fact that life is already hard and people should not allow the negative energy on social media into their space.
"I don't believe that if you wake up in the morning and you are just trying to do your best and someone wants to be negative, don't allow that in your space," Passaris advised.
She made the remarks while responding to the question "Why do you block people on Twitter and how many people have you blocked?"
Passaris, whose verified X account currently has 760,629 followers, advised that people should use the block button often as there is a reason why it was placed there.
"The option is there for you to use it. If there wasn't a desire to block people who don't say good things to you, or those who just want to attack you from Monday to Friday, then the option wouldn't be there," she said.
She raised concerns over the availability of trolls on social media whose agenda she says is to bring other people down.
