Kisumu county leadership has dismissed remarks by Chief Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavidi that Kisumu is insecure for investment.

Governor Anyang' Nyong'o noted that they are aware of propaganda to try and portray Kisumu as an insecure place.

"Let it be known that Musalia himself is a landowner and a notable investor in the city of Kisumu," Nyong'o said.

Nyong'o noted that he has not received any complaints from Mudavadi regarding the insecurity of his investments and properties in Kisumu.

"We know that during our demonstrations, goons were used in Kisumu specifically to cause havoc in the Central Business District. Let Mudavadi help stop this kind of sabotage by elements in the Kenya Kwanza brigade," he said.

"Since Musalia cannot even fight for his own community, one wonders why he is poking his nose to spread misinformation about Kisumu."

The governor further chided Mudavadi saying a few days ago UDA sacked Matilda Sakwa as chief executive of the NYS  for no good reason yet the Prime CS has remained silent on the issue.

"Let me remind the people of Kisumu that we are faithful to our party leader Raila Amolo Odinga and the gallant Azimio la Umoja Coalition in our struggle to liberate the people of Kenya from political oppression, electoral injustices, economic marginalisation and growing poverty and hunger," he said.

The governor further told Mudavadi that the success of the counties means economic growth for the whole nation and this is the reason they fought for devolution.

"I would like to welcome all those who want to visit our county and assure you that you will be safe and secure here," he said.

Kisumu Central MP Joshua Oron noted that the county remains ago to destination for investment.

Oron said Mudavadi's statement is unfortunate and he should stop playing politics with the lives of Kenyans.

"It's surprising that he's making money in Kisumu at the same time condemning the city where he has investments," he said.

"Kisumu is peaceful most of the time and I want to urge investors to continue investing in the city."
