Homa Bay executive committee members have been called upon to embrace high ethical standards for public confidence when discharging their duties.

Governor Gladys Wanga said by doing this, the cabinet members will focus on service delivery.

The governor said she will engage her cabinet members in performance contracts to ensure they deliver to the people.

“We’ll not accept any substandard works because it’s not part of our agenda,” Wanga said.

Speaking on Monday during swearing in of 10 CECs, Wanga urged residents to report any officials who will be accepting bribes in exchange for service.

The swearing-in ceremony was presided over by Homa Bay chief magistrate Julius Nang’eya.

They were sworn in after being vetted and approved by the county assembly last week.

The CECs include Roselyn Omollo (Health), Martin Opere (Education), Danish Onyango (Roads) and Solomon Obiero (Finance)

Others are Joash Aloo (Water and Environment), Polycarp Okombo (Trade), Peter Ogolla (Lands), Grace Osewe (Governance and Communication), John Agili (Fisheries) and Sarah Malit (Gender and Sports).

Wanga also appointed her deputy Oyugi Magwanga as the Agriculture executive.

“We have our work cut out due to our manifesto. Let’s concentrate on service delivery to the people,” she said.

Present at the event were county commissioner Moses Lilan, speaker of the county assembly Julius Gaya and majority leader Richard Ogindo.

The governor said she wants Homa Bay to be ranked among the top ten counties in performance.

“I want the officials to work hard in service delivery,” she said.

Magwanga urged the executive members to prioritise the needs of the residents in their respective departments.

“Homa Bay residents need services, ensure you meet your targets,” he said.
