The official results were announced at the constituency tallying centre by returning officer Samson Mayo who handed the certificate to the MP-elect.

“You have been duly elected as a member of the National Assembly. Congratulations,” Mayo said.

Koyoo who defended the seat on the ODM ticket thanked the people of Muhoroni for the massive support terming it a clear testimony of the confidence they have bestowed on his leadership.

He said the will of the people has been reflected, based on the results.

Koyoo, who will be serving his third term after swearing in, also lauded Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga for the faith and trust in his leadership.

He pledged to continue with his development agenda for the people of Muhoroni.

“Our main agenda is to make Muhoroni a better constituency on matters of development in areas such as roads and education,” Koyoo said.

The MP-elect extended an olive branch to his challengers to join him and deliver developments to the people of Muhoroni.

“It is now time to embark on real work. Let us unite and promote peace to help spur development in the area,” he said.

On Tuesday, Koyoo called on IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati to deliver free, fair and credible election to Kenyans.

He also said Chebukati should explain to Kenyans the real cause of cancellation of election in some areas in the country.

Koyoo, who voted at Magare Primary School polling station said the election must be devoid of malpractices.

He said the government invested heavily in the election and Kenyans must get value for their money, by IEBC conducting a transparent poll.

"The said MPs had allocated a good budget to the commission to conduct the polls and they cannot afford to mess up the electoral process. They have a duty to ensure the election is free and fair," Koyoo said.

He further said it was unfortunate that after spending billions of shillings in preparations for the exercise, some voters are not able to cast their votes in favour of their candidates.

Koyoo cited Kakamega and Mombasa where the IEBC suspended gubernatorial elections to a later date.
