The ODM party appears to have scooped most seats in Kisumu county, as voters obeyed its clarion call to elect a six-piece slate.
This apparent sweep is based on provisional results from the counties six of seven constituencies.
The seats include governor, Kisumu woman representative and the Senate position.
However, for MCAs positions, only a few ODM candidates from different wards so far are trailing behind their adversaries.
In the run-up to elections, calls were made to Kisumu residents to elect all and only ODM candidates.
The move aimed to have the party candidates clinch positions and solidify support for Azimio-One Kenya flagbearer Raila Odinga.
However, residents who spoke to the Star said Raila's handing out of direct tickets and endorsing others contributed greatly to the achievements.
"When Raila was in Kisumu ahead of his last rally before election, he called on us to vote for his people and said we should not let him be a lame duck president. And this is what the people have done," resident Michael Onyango said.
Initially, independent candidates and those from parties within Azimio posed major threats to the ODM candidates and many said the six-piece narrative was dead on arrival.
Handing out direct tickets in Nyanza offended many people who had hoped for genuine choice.
However provisional results In Kisumu East constituency incumbent Shakeel Shabbir who was defending his seat an an independent candidate against ODM's Nicholas Oricho was poised for another victory for a fourth time.
At Kisumu central constituency, new political entrant Joshua Oron was ahead against incumbent Fred Ouda, who was defending his seat as an independent candidate.
Kisumu Woman Representative Roza Buyu was on the verge of dislodging the incumbent Olago Aluoch in the Kisumu West constituency parliamentary seat.
Olago was defending his seat on MDG ticket.
In Nyakach and Seme, incumbent MPs Aduma Owuor and James Nyikal were were poised to win the seat.
For the senate seat ODM's Tom Ojienda.
For the woman representative position, former Kisumu Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga was also poised for a victory against her competitors, Valentine Anyango and Rose Kisia.
At constituency tallying centres in the seven subounties, results were being tallied and released under the watch of election observers, media, political parties agents and electoral officials.
