A senior ODM official has asked party chairman John Mbadi to stop confusing voters and members in Nyanza.
Kisumu West constituency ODM nominee Rosa Buyu said Mbadi's utterances on how to vote in the upcoming polls are ill-advised and aimed at inciting members against party nominees.
Buyu, the current Kisumu woman representative, said Mbadi is misleading voters for selfish gains. She is the ODM national deputy organising secretary.
The ODM chairman and Suba South MP has in the recent days been quoted in the media asking voters not to elect party nominees with questionable character.
Mbadi was an aspirant in the Homa Bay governor race but pulled out in the last minute. Gladys Wanga was later selected to fly the ODM flag.
Buyu said Mbadi has fixed his name in the list of party nominations while at the same time telling voters to disregard the party candidates.
“It’s unfortunate that out there he’s telling people to vote whoever they want but behind their backs he is the first person who has placed his name in the list of nominations under ODM party,” Buyu said.
The woman representative said ODM must strive to get numbers in Parliament after the August election.
Earlier, calls had been made to various party officials not comfortable with six-piece voting camapign to resign from their positions to pave way for those ready to campaign for ODM candidates.
ODM officials from Siaya and Alego Usonga branches said it was reckless for some officials to campaign for the party's opponents.
