Health PS Susan Mochache has warned against laxity in observing guidelines meant to stem Covid infections.

She said despite the reported decline in new infections, it is too early for Kenyans to celebrate and thus the need to use masks and social distance.

The PS spoke at Mokobokobo SDA Church in Nyaribari Masaba constituency on Sartuday during a Sabbath service.

Mochache said the Ministry of Health is focusing on ensuring that at least 60 per cent of Kenyans get the Covid-19 vaccine before the review is done.

Already massive campaigns are underway to ensure more Kenyans receive the jab.

"Let's not grow weary. Wear masks and let's social distance as we had been doing before. We cannot just drop the ball," she said.

Mochache said the pandemic can return with fury if we disregard the guidelines.

"The pandemic has not been completely eradicated. As a government, we are doing everything possible to ensure Kenyans are safe, "she said.

The PS said the vaccination rate was still too low to allow people to walk without face masks.

"The clarion call is that go for the jab and if you have been vaccinated, get the booster," she said.

Mochache said rumours doing rounds that those vaccinated would not sire children were untrue.

"Those are just mere speculations and conjectures build on quick sand, nothing truthful, the jabs are very safe," she said.
