Bosire pledges to tame graft if elected Nyamira governor

Aspirant says county lags behind in development, blames it on resource wastage

ODM national treasurer Timothy Bosire has pledged to transform Nyamira county if elected as the governor.

Speaking a day after he officially launched his bid for the seat, Bosire  said he is a charismatic and transformative leader who will catapult the county to a new era and level of development if he wins the seat.

He launched his bid at Viongozi Pastoral Centre before traversing the county where he addressed rallies at Mosobeti, Gesima, Keroka, Magombo, and Tombe in Kitutu Masaba constituency.

Bosire who spoke to the Star on Thursday said nine and half years since the advent of devolution, Nyamira still lags behind in development.

“Many counties have made great strides in development. Unfortunately, Nyamira is not one of them. Did devolution elude us?  Are we cursed?  Who will exorcise the curse?” wondered the former Kitutu Masaba MP.

He promised to ensure fairness and equitable distribution of resources, projects, and employment opportunities.        

Bosire decried widespread corruption and resource wastage in the county despite the change of guard. He pledged to fight corruption and resource wastage.

“Fighting deep-rooted endemic corruption will be a priority. I promise to ensure efficient and effective utilisation of financial and human capital,” he said.

During his tenure as Kitutu Masaba MP, Bosire was credited for prudent and fair distribution of the National Government Development Fund.

Youth empowerment, upgrading of health infrastructure will be among the priorities he will focus on.

“Old people with no source of income will be assisted to register for the National Hospital Insurance Fund. ‘Bosirecare’ will be started and made to work in Nyamira,” he added.

He further noted, “Other areas I will focus on include water and sewerage challenges. Improvement of roads infrastructure will also be another area of priority.”

He said agriculture which is the backbone of the county’s economy, will be handled with the seriousness it deserves to ensure optimum production of subsistence and cash crops, quality livestock and poultry, and bee keeping.

Bosire will battle it out with incumbent Governor Amos Nyaribo, Borabu MP Ben Momanyi, former MPs Joseph Kiangoi, Walter Nyambati, and Mwancha Okioma in a race that is expected to be hotly contested.
