Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo has asked voters not to fall into the 'trap' of Deputy President William Ruto's hustler narrative.

Odhiambo said the country at the moment needs a solution and not funny slogans that do not resonate with the people.

He likened Ruto to a good marketer who cannot provide a solution but is good at marketing, unlike ODM leader Raila Odinga who insisted that he is a solution-oriented man.

“In 2013 when the elections were about to happen, the DP told school-going pupils that they will all be provided with laptops but eight years later [where are they]?” Odhiambo said.

The legislator said the country has a defining moment to differentiate the kind of leader they want in the 2022 general election based on their track record.

“The country does not need people who will provide painkillers to the sick when everyone is looking for curative measures to revive the economy,” he said.

He said the ultimate solution to the country requires men and women with definite plans who are aware of the dilemma the country is in.

“The next president must be someone who understands that there is a need for youth empowerment and the growth of the economy,” he said.

The lawmaker said that it’s only a pragmatic person like ODM leader Raila Odinga who is aware that the economy is wobbling and can revive the lost glory of Kenya.

He added that some of the aspirants are only out for sideshows, unlike Raila who is geared for peace and unity before creating a fertile ground for reviving the economy.

Odhiambo said presidential aspirants like Ruto have no agenda for the growth of the country going by his style of leadership.
