Nyanza ODM members and supporters have been urged to register as voters to boost Raila Odinga’s chances of ascending to the presidency.

Nyakach MP Aduma Owuor said members should not sit pretty but instead rally potential voters to get listed in the ongoing mass voter registration.

Owuor called on leaders and stakeholders to mobilise young people who have not registered to get enlisted.

“When going for political war one must ensure his army is consolidated before seeking support from other regions. Our vote which is our army should be in one basket and ready to vote as a block,” he said.

The legislator said Raila can best clinch the presidency during the elections if the people of Nyanza register in large numbers.

“That is only possible if ODM supporters come out to vote in large numbers during the polls,” he said.

Owuor called on chiefs and their assistants to facilitate students who have attained 18 years and above to get national identification cards.

This will ensure that young people register as voters, he said.

Owuor spoke on Monday at Sango Buru Mixed Secondary School during the handing over ceremony of Sh8.5 million school bus.

The bus was purchased through the National Government Constituency Development Fund.

Owuor appealed to parents and stakeholders to supplement efforts by the government aimed at providing students with quality education.

He said parents should not wait for the government to provide everything in learning institutions.

Owuor said it was the prerogative of parents and stakeholders to chip in and supplement what the government is doing.

He asked parents and stakeholders to support the school heads so that they can deliver.

Owuor commended the principal George Nyangwe for his endeavour to uplift the school.

He said the school has realised a lot since he reported in 2012.

Owuor said other schools, Lisana, Abawo, Anding’o Opanga, Kajimbo, Mbugra and Moro will benefit from a similar gesture.
