Police in Nyamira are investigating an incident where a man was burnt to death in his house in a suspected land tussle.

Kennis Maxwell Getange’s house was set on fire at around 7.30pm before neighbours rushed to put out the fire, only to find it completely gutted.

Family members of the deceased have vowed not to proceed with any funeral arrangements until investigations are completed.

“We are sure this death was planned. All we need is the truth behind the death of our kin before we can start any arrangements of his final journey,” said a family member who sort anonymity.

County commissioner Amos Mariba said the police have since launched investigations to establish the cause of the inferno.

"Our officers are on the matter and very soon we are going to have the real cause of the death,” Mariba said in a statement on Wednesday.
