A man seeking to have West Asembo MCA Ambrose Akuno recalled has withdrawn his petition, saying he was hoodwinked to sign it.
Charles Simbe on Tuesday said his signature was taken without his informed consent.
He said they met a stranger, claiming he was from ODM headquarters at Orange House in Nairobi. The claimed t have been sent by the party to have the independent MCA recalled.
"We were mobilized at Majango Secondary School where he asked us to sign the petition. We didn't know it was to be used to recall the ward representative," Simbe said.
His confession followed a demonstration by residents to express their solidarity with their MCA. The petitioners were accusing Akuno of absence from duty.
Ward manager Esaus Audi who led the demonstrations said the MCA was being targeted for his hard stance on corruption by the executive.
"The war is being sponsored by the ward administrator. They don't know the Hansard records," Audi said.
