• Leaders interested in governor position seeking his endorsement
• Say county is lagging behind in development
Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has been told to work instead of thinking about 2022 elections.
Youths headed by Brian Mamboleo on Saturday said the county has lagged behind in development.
They said Nyagarama should not support any governor candidate as it will divert his attention from development.
“We have heard some people say that Nyagarama should come out and support some candidates who will take over from him when he retires. But we are urging him to develop the county first because 2022 is far away,” Mamboleo sai
The youths urged leaders who want the governor’s endorsement to focus on developing their areas first.
“What the people want is development first before the 2022 politics. If they think they can leave development and rush to seek endorsement from the governor to run for seats, then they have lost,” Bernard Nyaribo said.
A number of individuals, including Borabu MP Ben Momanyi and ODM National treasurer Timothy Bosire, have shown interest in the governor position. Nyagarama is serving his second and final term.
