Kisumu Senator Fred Outa will seek to unseat Governor Anyang' Nyong'o in 2022, the lawmaker said on Monday.

Outa was a key member in Nyong'o'c campaign team in 2017, playing an integral part during the announcement of the governor as the ODM party nomination winner at Thurdibuoro Secondary School in Nyakach.

“This time round, I will not announce anyone. I've done this for some time and have decide to wear the coat myself. I must go with the ‘girl’,” Outa said.

He spoke at Nyangande primary School during a prize giving day for Kabonyo Kanyagwal in Nyando constituency. He later presided over a fundraising at Wang’ang’a Secondary School in Awasi.

The senator promised to let Nyong'o deliver his promises, saying ODM boss Raila Odinga had directed him to minimise politicking.

Outa and Nyong'o fell out last year after the governor allegedly reneged on a pre-election deal. Both were together in 'Team Kali' in which they were to share county positions on a 50-50 basis. But the senator said he was holding no grudge against Nyong’o following their fallout.

The two meetings were attended by nominated Senator Rose Nyamunga and East Africa and Regional Development Chief Administrative Secretary Ken Obura.
