•They want details about funds disbursed to the facilities
•Others say health centres in their wards are underfunded
Nyamira county executive for Health Douglas Bosire was put to task on Thursday on why some health facilities do not offer services.
Ward representatives also wanted details of the funds disbursed to the facilities.
Kemera MCA George Nyachae said health facilities in his ward have been allocated less money compared to others.
“In my ward, compared to other wards, I have been allocated a small amount of funds for development and completion of ongoing projects. Hence there is a need for more funding,” Nyachae said.
But Bosire said his department allocates funds to wards based on their budget.
Many MCAs said hospitals in their wards do not operate 24 hours and in emergency cases, patients are taken to the county hospital or private facilities.
Kiabonyoru MCA Duke Omoti protested the unavailability of an ambulance bought for Amatierio health centre.
“My people are dying every day since they cannot get ambulance services. Pregnant women are suffering and yet there is an ambulance that is supposed to help them,” he said.
