Passaris, Babu Owino secure ODM tickets for August polls

Sonu leader Babu Owino and businesswoman Esther Passaris have secured ODM tickets in the just concluded Nairobi primaries. Owino garnered 6,093 votes for the Embakasi East MP ticket, while Passaris beat five opponents to get 65,104 votes for the Nairobi woman representative ticket. Beatrice Kwamboka came second with 11,296 votes, while Jane Nyaboke came third with 4,677 votes.

Sonu leader Babu Owino and businesswoman Esther Passaris have secured ODM tickets in the just concluded Nairobi primaries.

Owino garnered 6,093 votes for the Embakasi East MP ticket, while Passaris beat five opponents to get 65,104 votes for the Nairobi woman representative ticket.

Beatrice Kwamboka came second with 11,296 votes, while Jane Nyaboke came third with 4,677 votes.

Passaris will battle for the women representative seat with Jubilee's Rachel Shebesh.

Results also indicate that Ken Okoth has won the ODM ticket for the Kibra MP seat.

In Makadara, George Aladwa beat Reuben Ndolo for the MP ticket. Aladwa garnered 5,385 votes against Ndolo's 1,812 votes.

In Starehe, businessman Steve Mbogo won the ODM ticket with 5,697 votes. He is likely to face off with Jubilee's Maina Kamanda in the general election.

Abdul Kadir secured his slot for the Kamukunji MP seat in the August elections, winning with 2,782 votes.

The party primaries focused on the MP, MCA and the woman representative seats.

But ODM did not field any candidates in Dagoretti South and Roysambu.

The party gave Tim Wanyonyi a direct ticket for Westlands constituency, as well as incumbent Governor Evans Kidero and senate aspirant Gabriel Bukachi.

Kidero and Bukachi will face off with Jubilee's Mike Sonko and Johnson Sakaja respectively in the general elections.

In Mombasa county, Omar Mwinyi bagged the Changwamwe MP ticket with 7,123 against Juma Goshi's 1,483 votes.

Badi Twalib also won with 3,283 votes against Dan Aloo's 1,759 votes in the contest for ODM Jomvu MP ticket.

Mohammed Faki won the Mombasa senator ticket with 11,135 votes against Hamisi Mwaguya's 9,106 votes.
