Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo has declined the offer for tea by Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga to mend fences.

Rasanga gave the invite after Midiwo raised concerns about the “increased cases of unnecessary politics locally” and urged elected MPs to focus their attention on matters at the national.

“There is a lot of noise in Nyanza, our elected leaders should … stop meddling in local affairs,” Midiwo said.

The two rivals spoke on Saturday at the burial of West Uyoma ward MCA Odeny Nduru.

Rasanga welcomed Midiwo’s remarks that county leaders should be given time to perform.

“Midiwo you have suffocated my lungs all through. Let’s find time we take tea at your hotel and not mine,” he said.

But Midiwo shook his head, rejecting the offer.

The MP has been a fierce critic of Rasanga’s administration, accusing it of financial misappropriation.

Midiwo urged Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo, who has declared interest in the Siaya governor seat, to reconcile with Suba’s John Mbadi, following a recent public spat.
