TWO people died and 10 others were injured in a road accident on Oyugis-Kisumu road, Homa Bay county, on Sunday.

The crash occurred at Mikai trading centre in Kabondo Kasipul constituency.

Gladys Nudu, 70, and an unidentified man died on the spot when the Nissan matatu they were traveling in collided with a Probox.

Homa Bay police boss John Omusanga yesterday said the Nissan matatu rolled several times before it landed in a ditch.

“The speeding Probox knocked the matatu on the right side and rolled several times.

The Nissan matatu driver did not indicate a signal when he tried to dodge a pothole,” he said.

Omusanga said the vehicles were headed in the same direction. Four people suffered serious injuries.

“My officers took the two bodies and rushed the injured passengers to Rachuonyo subcounty hospital in Oyugis,” he said.

Omusanga urged drivers to be cautious, especially during the festive season.

“We know some PSV drivers want to make more money by driving fast,” he said.
