Kisumu Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga wants a referral hospital built for rape victims in Kisumu county.
She said rape cases are on the rise but there are no facilities to cater for the needs of victims.
Odinga spoke on Friday during the closure of the National Music Festivas at Kisumu State Lodge hosted by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
She urged Uhuru to step up the fight against insecurity.
“We all know it is not easy to fix this insecurity menace overnight but a strong security framework should be put in place to ensure our security is guaranteed,” Odinga said.
She said the government must lead instead of passing the baton back to Kenyans
