Governor Guyo retains two county executives in new cabinet

Says he is confident that the nominees he picked will assist him in bringing developmental change

Isiolo Governor Abdi Hassan Guyo has retained two county executives who served in his predecessor Mohamed Kuti's government.

The two are Lawrence Mwongela and Yusuf Dahir, who are currently serving in the Agriculture and Land dockets respectively.

If approved Mwongela will be in charge of Tourism, Trade, Cooperatives and Enterprise Development while Dahir will serve in the same docket in addition to Peace and Conflict Resolution Affairs.

Guyo also named his cabinet which he said had complied with constitutional principles.

The appointments were announced by county communication coordinator Hussein Salesa on Tuesday.

Yussuf Mohamed Galgalo will head the Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries docket alongside Special Programs.

The docket was previously under the office of the governor.

Alio Wario Sarite has been nominated to Water, Sanitation, Energy, Environment and Natural Resources departments.

Guyo also promoted some of the chief officers to county executives.

Former Education chief officer Aileen Kajuju has been promoted to Education, Youth, Sports, Culture and Social Services docket.

“The changes will ensure improved service delivery and realisation of our agenda for the electorates,” Salesa said.

Former Isiolo South MP Abdullahi Banticha will be in charge of the Finance and Economic Planning docket.

He lost his bid in the August polls to former county secretary Mohammed Tupi who replaced former MP Abdi Koropu.

Guyo also nominated former Kenya National Union of Teachers official Dade Boru for the county secretary post that was formerly occupied by Ahmed Galgalo.

Hashim Mohamed Abdi has been appointed as Isiolo's county attorney.

Former Governor Kuti’s aides Abdi Nyabure (chief executive advisor,) Abdi Hajj Daud (economic advisor), Abdi Wario Godana (chief advisor Inter-Governmental Affairs)  and Gollo Boru Dida  (chief advisor Inter-County and National Coordination ) were named as Guyo's advisors.

However, the county boss failed to nominate Health executive which is currently headed by Wario Galma.

Speaking to the Star, Guyo said he was confident that the nominees he picked will assist him in bringing developmental change in Isiolo and offer adequate services.

“I believe they are competent and will assist me to fulfil my manifesto to the people of Isiolo. I have done my part, let the assembly do theirs,” he said.

All the nominees to the cabinet will be vetted by the Isiolo county assembly, which will either approve or reject their nomination.
