Residents of Batalu/Buna in Wajir County have endorsed renowned football star Daud Mohamed, well known as Khatata to vie for Batalu Ward seat.

Batalu is a cosmopolitan ward in Wajir North that is predominantly lived in both Ajuran and Degodia communities.

The ward with about 6,000 votes has attracted six candidates in the August 9 elections.

During the 2017 elections, Degodia won the seat but the opponent (Ajuran) fearlessly fought it out through the court battle and by- election conducted where the Ajuran won again.

Daud is a front runner and Degodia sole candidate for the coveted seat.

Speaking to the media after the endorsement over the weekend, Mohamed promised to restore hope in the worrying communities living in Batalu.

He urged both families to harmoniously graze and look for pasture together.

As a footballer, he pledged full support to the youngsters and nurture talent.

"I assure the residents that I will secure your rights through robust legislation and representation at the county Assembly", Daud said.

Wajir County Government had a rough time last year due to court cases that emanated from both the other political leaders and the community.

The impeached county boss has been reinstated a week ago as six others run to unseat him in the coming general election.
