Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has said the Muslim and Somali community will stick with Deputy President William Ruto to the end and make sure he clinches the presidency.

Duale said Ruto was a true friend to the pastoralist community.

He spoke on Monday during a funds drive to help Almustaqbal Islamic University.

Duale, a close ally of Ruto said he has demonstrated through his actions that he can be a trustworthy leader in the Muslim community.

“The key appointments that were made from our regions from the cabinet to the lowest were done courtesy of Ruto’s leadership,”  Duale said.

“That is why when the DP was silenced by the government and some of us were kicked out of the positions we held, they were given to people from other parts of the country.”

Duale said they have walked the journey with the DP and were ready to pay any price to stand with him and will not be afraid.

He said, the Harambees the DP has helped raise were among other things he had done for them.

The MP was confident that Ruto will defeat ODM leader Raila Odinga.

“Whether Raila Odinga is a project of Uhuru Kenyatta or deep state or anybody else, Kenya is a democratic state and it's only the people who will go into the next elections to vote and choose the kind of leaders they want to lead them,” Duale said.

Dadaab MP Mohamed Dahiye said leaders allied to the Deputy President will next year launch the vigorous campaigns that will see them crisscross the region to solicit support for Ruto.

“Starting next year we will move from house to house and tell our people why you are the right candidate. They already know the things you have done for them and so you will be an easy candidate to sell,” Duale said.

Leaders from Northeastern are divided between supporting Raila and Ruto.

Those supporting the former prime minister are led by finance CS Ukur Yatani and Eldas MP Aden Keynan who are the founders of UPYA movement.

DP Ruto and his allies have already declared the ODM leader as a state project citing preferential treatment he has enjoyed from Kenyatta's administration since handshake.
