Former Moyale MP Mohammed Galgallo laid to rest

He served Moyale constituency between 1983 to 1988.

Former Moyale MP Hon. Mohamed Malicha Galgallo has been laid to rest in Moyale town . The former lawmaker died on Friday following long illness.

He served Moyale constituency between 1983 to 1988. He later lost the seat to Philip Galma Godana before making a comeback to August house in 1992 general elections.

The former MP also served as an Assistant Minister during Moi's regime. He lost his Moyale seat in 1997 election and nominated to parliament by Ford Kenya party between 1997-2022.

Throughout his leadership he was passionate to change the face of marginalized upper eastern region according to the leaders who spoke at the funeral.

 

Addressing the mourners, Marsabit Governor H.E Mohamud Ali said community and the larger Marsabit lost an icon who stood for peace and unity of the communities in the region.

He described the former MP as an educator, peace lover, and defender of community interest.

Ali said the former MP was vocal on unity and peace among the people even after retiring from active politics.

The governor urged residents to fulfill his dream by embracing unity and love.

Ali mentioned that the deceased was among his political advisors before he fell sick.

He pointed out that Moyale people will celebrate his good service of fighting illiteracy and standing for peace.

He said the county government will cater for all burial expenses citing he is an icon who even deserved a state burial.

 

Marsabit Senator Godana Hargura, MPs Qalicha Gufu (Moyale), Dido Ali Raso (Saku), Chachu Ganya (North Horr) Safia Sheik Adan (Marsabit), Rehema Jaldesa (Isiolo), Marsabit Deputy Governor Solomon Gubo, Isiolo county speaker Hussein Golicha and several MCAs attended the burial.

Leaders who addressed the mourners described Galgallo's loss as a blow to upper eastern region.

Various people from Nairobi, Isiolo and other parts of the country attended the burial.

The former MP died at the age of 68 years and was buried on Saturday at Butiye grave yard as per Muslim custom.
