MPs have received a bill proposing retention of the CDF kitty in constituencies.

CDF board chairman Elias Mbau on Wednesday said the bill has been presented to the Parliamentary Select Committee on CDF.

Speaking at Mbuju Primary School, Meru county, he said the board and committee have toured the country seeking public views on whether the fund should be scrapped.

“When we heard the public saying CDF is what has brought the first tangible development since independence, we knew we were on the right track,” Mbau said.

He urged MPs to be more innovative when identifying the projects that need to be funded through the CDF.

Mbau said this will stop project duplication with devolved governments.

Speaking at the Timau CDF office, board CEO Yusuf Buno said they are giving people ideas improving the fund.

“We have gotten only Sh207 billion in 13 years for the fund,” he said.
