Detectives are investigating an incident where a 14-year-old boy was found murdered in their house following a robbery in the Obama area of Kayole, Nairobi.
The gang stole a 43-inch television set that was mounted on the wall in the November 29, 2025, incident.
The murder took place on the second floor of the house where the boy lived with his family.
He was the only one at home at the time and was playing outside when the suspected assailants called him and led him into the house, witnesses said.
While in the house, they hit him on the head with a blunt object, tied his neck using a piece of cloth, and tied both his hands with a black cable.
The body of the boy was found lying partly on a wooden bed long after the murder, police said.
The motive for the murder was not immediately known. Police believe the boy knew the killers.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.
Police said they are hunting for the suspects in the murder, and no arrests had been made as of Tuesday.
Police also rescued a three-year-old boy from suspected kidnappers in a village in Karungu, Nyatike, Migori County.
The child had been taken hostage, and the kidnappers called the boy’s parents demanding Sh1 million in ransom for his release.
The parents reported the matter to the police, who took action, arrested one suspect, and rescued the boy unharmed.
This was the day after the incident happened. The boy was kidnapped on Sunday as he played with his friends in the area, and the parents, out of panic, sent an initial ransom of Sh40,000 for his release.
Police said the suspect is a 17-year-old Form Three student at a local school and added that they were pursuing two more suspects in the saga.
The child was reunited with his family amid ongoing operations to arrest the other accomplices.
Elsewhere in Mathare North, police are investigating the sudden death of a 26-year-old woman in a house.
The woman, identified as Maureen Chebet, had visited her boyfriend when she developed breathing complications and collapsed in the house.
She was rushed to a hospital in the area, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other investigations.
The boyfriend recorded his statement as part of the probe into the incident.
