About 10 incidents were reported on elections day that left at least one person dead.
Police said the incidents include the one where Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa shot and killed an aide to a rival at a tallying centre.
However, Inspector General of police Hilary Mutyambai said the country was calm despite a few incidents of insecurity experienced.
“In most of these incidents, police with the help of members of the public responded promptly and restored normalcy in real-time,” he said.
A terror-related incident was reported in Mandera county, where suspected al Shabaab militias attacked a police camp at Qarsa and torched a lorry and motorcycle.
In Eldas, Wajir county, IEBC officials were blocked from accessing the tallying centre.
Also, a police vehicle ferrying electoral materials was attacked at Khorof Harar in Wajir, injuring two officers.
“In all these incidents, IEBC staff were secured, electoral materials safeguarded and voting proceeded apart from Eldas where the election was postponed to the following day,” Mutyambai said.
He said despite these challenges, the entire electoral process across the country has remained calm and peaceful with no major incidents to report.
“As the National Police Service and our security partners, we continue to support IEBC to deliver their mandate," he said.
