UDA Westland's MP candidate Nelson Havi has asked Kenyans to make wise choices ahead of the August 9 polls.

The MP hopeful, who on Sunday pitched tents in various churches in Westlands, Nairobi, said there is a need to have sober leaders in office to realize development.

The Former President of the Law Society of Kenya urged the church to pray for Kenyans so that they can make good choices in the coming elections even as he vouched for his parliamentary bid.

"There is so much hope in the church. We hope that the church prays for Kenyans to make good choices. This will ensure that we get good leadership that will serve Kenyans well. I believe if you vote for me we will be able to deliver development in this constituency."

Havi was speaking at the African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa (AIPCA), Kangemi. He also visited the PCEA church in Kawangware.

If elected, the MP hopeful pledged to ensure bursary allocation is done fairly without considering one's tribe.

He also used the church visit to campaign for Deputy President William Ruto.

He weighed in on his recently launched manifesto saying it will address the needs of not only the Westlands constituency but of Kenyans at large.

"Our presidential candidate recently launched a manifesto that will focus on the needs of you ordinary people. He has plans to ensure markets are built for you and that you also work in a conducive environment."

Havi also enumerated to residents numerous times he has fought for the interests of the Westlands constituency saying he will keep the fire burning once elected as MP.

The UDA candidate is facing stiff competition from the incumbent Tim Wanyonyi.

Wanyonyi, who is serving his second term, is vying on an ODM party ticket.

As he seeks the parliamentary seat, Havi has successfully petitioned several matters of public interest.

Wanyonyi on the other hand is banking on his development record to woo voters to retain him.

Among Havi's landmark wins in the corridors of justice is after he, among others, successfully challenged the constitutionality of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI)

Havi has also moved to court to challenge the rollout of the competency-based curriculum (CBC).

In 2020, he defied odds and took on President Uhuru Kenyatta head-on in court over the dusk to dawn curfew imposed by the Head of State to limit the spread of Covid-19.

While moving to court, he argued that there was no legal justification for such a directive.
