Motorists plying Uhuru Highway will experience more traffic disruption for the next 21 days.
The Kenya National Highways Authority said on Thursday that there will be disruption between Bunyala Roundabout and Nyayo Stadium Roundabout from Friday, April 30 up to May 20.
The authority said that the extension of the traffic disruption is to pave way for the ongoing construction of the Nairobi Expressway along Mombasa Road.
Motorists have been asked to use alternative routes that have been indicated, including Bunyala Road, Aerodrome Road., Dunga Road and Lusaka Road.
In its earlier communication to the public, the authority had said that the disruption was to take 20 days but has been extended.
The Nairobi Expressway which is a 27.1km highway starts from Mlolongo through Uhuru Highway and terminating at James Gichuru Road in Westlands.
The project had earlier been estimated to take two years.
In March, Transport CS James Macharia said that the Sh60 billion highway was 33 per cent complete.
Macharia who was on an inspection tour said that the multibillion-shilling project is progressing well, expressing confidence that it will be ready for use by the end of the year.
The expressway was launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta in October 2019 and was expected to be completed and opened for traffic early next year.
