• Say his priority would be to align county chapters to KNCCI national policy and government's development agenda.
Members of the public should be involved in shaping policies for supporting small and medium enterprises, the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry says.
KNCCI Nairobi chapter chair Richard Ngatia says counties should work together and where possible initiate joint programmes to boost small traders.
Ngatia spoke in Nairobi on Wednesday after handing over his nomination papers for the chamber’s national president elections. The nomination papers were received by elections board chairman Benjamin Onkoba.
Ngatia said if elected his priority would be to create synergy of all chapters in the 47 counties to align them to the national chamber policy and the government's development agenda.
He will engage the public on how to build the capacity of SMEs, which are the biggest employers especially of youths and women, he said.
Ngatia has received the backing of five counties at the Coast. He met chamber delegates from Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, Taita Taveta and Tana River who promised to elect him.
Coast delegates want KNCCI to push for policies that would ease the cost of doing business.
The board announced grassroots polls will kick off from April 1, culminating in thenational vote on May 28.
