Eastern regional commissioner Evans Achoki has assured of strict security during and after the general election.
Speaking in Embu town on Monday, Achoki said the security agencies are ready for the exercise
He said the region has 45 constituencies and they will deploy 16,000 police officers.
“We have received the strategic and non-strategic materials for the elections in all the constituencies in this region,” he confirmed.
The administrator said the region has 741 polling centres, 56 tallying centres and close to three million voters.
However, Achoki urged the residents to maintain peace during and after the elections and maintain order during voting.
“Follow instructions from IEBC officials at the polling centres,” he said.
He said people should also follow the right process to protest any decision, which he said should be through the court and not public demonstrations.
“We know it's only one person who's going to win and there's no need of causing chaos. If someone will feels aggrieved, let them use the legal means of seeking justice,” Achoki said.
He said Isiolo and Marsabit will be guarded under air surveillance to ensure maximum security.
