• "Let's engage in issue-based conversations and hold leaders accountable to what they say. Elect those dedicating their time to the community's challenges," Wako said.
• "My development track record speaks for itself. I want to appeal to my people to elect me based on my ideologies and I pledge to be their servant," he said.
Saku MP aspirant Halkano Dida Wako has urged residents to elect people with proven track-records.
He said residents should elect leaders who have their interests at heart.
Wako who spoke on Saturday at a rally in Dirib said the youth are being taken for granted by leaders who only use them to fulfil their ambitions.
He said young people should elect those who will create opportunities and reject those dishing out money and making fake promises.
The aspirant said some leaders engage in empty political rhetoric instead of addressing pertinent issues affecting the people.
"Let's engage in issue-based conversations and hold leaders accountable to what they say. Elect those dedicating their time to the community's challenges," he said.
Wako said the electorate should rise above clan politics and instead scrutinise aspirants on what they stand for before deciding to vote for them.
The aspirant, who is running as an independent candidate, has been involved in numerous philanthropic activities like empowering women, youth and people living with disabilities.
He said he is the best suited for the job.
"My development track record speaks for itself. I want to appeal to my people to elect me based on my ideologies and I pledge to be their servant," Wako said.
The former Nairobi county chief officer said top of his agenda is infrastructure, especially in the education sector.
He said he will build a college in the constituency for the youths, revamp technical training institutions and support needy students' education.
The aspirant said he has also lined up plans to empower women and the youth through engaging in income generating activities.
He further said he will focus on economic empowerment to make a lasting impact on the constituency, by introducing a model where those at the village get tenders.
Wako also said he has plans to work closely with the Ministry of Interior for maximum provision of security to residents and their property.
He however, took a jibe at some individuals who he said ensured he missed the opportunity to raise the Jubilee flag in the constituency.
Some of the Jubilee supporters had protested the decision by the party to issue direct tickets to aspirants without building consensus with those eyeing the party tickets.
