Chuka-based businessman Muthomi Micheni will be making a second stab at the Igambang’ombe parliamentary seat in August.

Micheni lost to MP Patrick Munene in 2017 but believes he will trounce him this year.

The businessman popularly known as Muthomi 810, will contest on Mwangi Kiunjuri’s The Service Party of Kenya ticket.

Micheni said he has embarked on a door to door campaign to unseat Munene.

“I have rectified the mistakes I did. Although I ran a well-oiled campaign, I lost the seat. However this time round I have a war chest and decent strategies to ensure I clinch the seat,” Micheni said. 

He spoke on Monday when he attended the passing-out ceremony of initiates from boyhood to manhood in Chuka town.

Micheni, an automotive dealer said he will prioritise empowerment of key people in the society.

“I will empower our youths to complete education. Channel money to women groups. Have stipends for people aged above 70 and ensure all persons living with disabilities are registered and get government funds,” Micheni said.

The businessman is vying against Patrick Munene (UDA), Mercy Kirito (Jubilee) and John Mbaabu.

He said residents should not look at parties but individuals who are likely to propel key developmental projects required by residents.

Despite vying on a party that is in the Kenya Kwanza alliance, Micheni said the attack on Raila Odinga's convoy and helicopters in Eldoret was wrong.

He said the NCIC should ensure that incidences of hate speech and incitement are curbed as the country heads to polls in about four months.

“Leaders should avoid making alarming remarks that may trigger political intolerance and cause tension around the country,” Micheni said.

He however lauded the Competency- Based Curriculum saying the system is good because children are able to pursue their talents.

“My son is in a national secondary school and he likes basketball very much. He excels during ball games and he is the captain of the basketball team.

"I urged him to take aviation but he dropped it at Form 2 because he doesn't like it,” Micheni said.
