- Njuki seemed angered by Munya’s move to supply planting seeds, a project Njuki’s administration caims to have been undertaking for the last four years.
- Their differences are however linked to heated politics between former Chuka VC Erastus Njoka and Njuki.
Agriculture CS Peter Munya and Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki are at loggerheads over who takes credit for state projects.
Njuki is accusing Munya of engaging in active politics whereas he is a Cabinet minister.
On his part, Munya blames Njuki over highhandedness and big man syndrome.
Njuki seemed angered by Munya’s move to supply planting seeds, a project Njuki’s administration claims to have been undertaking for the last four years.
He called Munya a coward saying he shelved his ambition to vie for fear of losing to Governor Kiraitu Murungi.
Munya however said Njuki is the worst liar and coward in the county.
Their differences are however linked to heated politics between former Chuka VC Erastus Njoka and Njuki.
Njoka is eyeing to unseat Njuki as the Tharaka Nithi governor in the August polls.
Munya is campaigning for Njoka, a Jubilee candidate whereas Njuki is in Deputy President William Ruto’s UDA camp.
The CS said Chuka town link roads was tarmacked by Jubilee administration.
He also said Chuka Kaareni road, Kirubia stadium, Chuka University infrastructural growth and Chuka General Hospital block were all Jubilee government projects.
“We know you (Njuki), you have been plundering public money. I was here on revival of coffee, tea, milk and provision of semen and coolers.
"Njuki has been issuing locust mitigation funds from my ministry. How can he say I have done nothing for the people in here? While holding the same cheque, he claims Uhuru’s government has done nothing," Munya said.
The CS spoke on Saturday while disbursing planting seeds and launching development projects in the company of Njoka.
He said Muthomi is a liar who takes credit for projects which no coin from the county was spent on.
“I have been here severally and have never talked ill against Njuki. I was at Rubate, opening irrigation water project to supply sufficient water for farmers. He lied that he funded the project; no coin from the county was used.
"I was at Makanyanga to open another irrigation project that he has been claiming to have constructed, those are falsehoods. Vote out Njuki,” the CS said.
The governor however said the project's money were budgeted by Parliament and he is ready to be arrested if he misused public funds.
“In 2017, I won, Munya lost. In 2022, I will be in ballot but Munya is a coward. Tell me one thing Munya has brought in Tharaka Nithi as a minister," Njuki said.
He said Munya was dethroned by Kiraitu in Meru but goes to Chuka to deceive residents saying he (Njuki) is insulting the President.
“I said the truth. In five years the President has never visited Tharaka Nithi,” the governor said.
Njuki had appealed to Uhuru not to send Munya to the county.
Munya however said it is undemocratic for Njuki to block other leaders against holding meetings in the county.
“He (Njuki) had blocked my airplane from landing at a public field. When you see someone blocking others not to hold campaigns and meetings, they are cowards.
"They know they have failed the people of Tharaka Nithi and have no chances of winning next elections. How can Njuki completely close the Chuka stage so that we can’t address our people?” the CS said.
