Nominated MCA Sicily Ruguru on Tuesday urged Embu stakeholders to increase their support in the education sector.

“Each ward receives an equal share from the county government and for the four years, I’ve noticed how important it is to invest in education. Enabling the education sector is the best that leaders can do,” Ruguru said.

Ruguru, a long-serving nursery teacher spoke during the burial of a former teacher Robert Njuki in Mukuuri, Embu.

Njuki was the brother of Embu Governor Martin Wambora.

Ruguru called for patience among the education sector stakeholders. She attributed most challenges facing the implementation of some government programmes to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The economy is not so good at the moment and I would request that parents play their part and support teachers in ensuring their children are always in school.

"The Covid-19 pandemic has led to financial challenges and I call for teachers to be patient with parents,” she said.

The MCA, called upon leaders to conduct peaceful campaigns and allow everyone to exercise their constitutional right.

She condemned violent conduct by leaders in some parts of the country saying it should not be allowed.
