Former Kitui Governor Julius Malombe has asked the people to vote him back into office next year on account of his development track record.
The former county chief said the people of Kitui were regretting voting him out of office in 2017 and were craving to have him back.
He said since he was voted out of office the steady tempo of development he had maintained had waned and no meaningful development had been realized ever since.
He was however optimistic that all was not lost as he was ready and willing to fix things if re-elected.
During the 2017 gubernatorial elections, Malombe was dethroned by Governor Charity Ngilu.
Former Kitui Senator David Musila also lost his bid for the seat.
Both Malombe and Musila have declared that they will once again be in the race in 2022.
“Kitui development vehicle got stuck since I left office and the only way to jump-start development is by voting me back in 2022 so that I can return development on the track,” the former governor said.
He spoke on Saturday during the burial of Mary Muli Kivoto the mother of former Mitamisyi councillor, Elijah Kivoto, in Kimela village of Kyuso district, Kitui .
He said since the people of Kitui had expressed a desire to have him back to the office, he was ready to serve them again.
“I am ready to fix the issue of the stalled development so that our county could return to the path towards attaining unsurmountable development,” Malombe said.
He said it was clear that none of his fellow contestants in the gubernatorial seat in next year’s general election matched his capabilities because the people had sampled him when he was governor between 2013 and 2014.
At the funeral, the area MP Paul Nzengu cautioned his challengers including his predecessor John Munuve who was present to hold their horses and stop the premature election campaign.
Former unsuccessful aspirants for the Kitui Woman representative’s seat Jane Kibati said she will be seeking the same seat next year.
Lawyer Wilfred Nyamu Mati who hails from Kyuso district also announced that he will be in the 2022 race for the Kitui senatorial seat.
