Elders and political leaders in Embu have commended DPP Noordin Haji's quick action to get justice for the murdered Kionjokoma brothers after he ordered the arrest of police officers linked to the deaths.

Haji on Monday directed IG Hillary Mutyambai to arrest six police officers linked to the murder of two brothers.

Former Runyenjes MP Cecily Mbarire said the investigations were swiftly conducted.

“We appreciate the expeditious investigations and look forward to seeing the Director of Public Prosecutions action with the urgency this matter deserves,” Mbarire said.

Local human rights activist Taratisio Ireri also appreciated the order for arrests.

"I call upon the office of Director of Public Prosecutions to ensure this doesn't end here," Ireri said.

Ireri also asked the DPP to ensure justice is served for Moses Kimathi who was shot dead by police during demonstrations at Kianjokoma on August 5.

The demonstrations were in protest of the deaths of brothers Benson Njiru and Emmanuel Mutura.

Embu Elders Forum chairman Salvatore Njue on Tuesday said it is a bad omen to the family of anyone who kills another person in the Kiembu culture.

He said those involved in the killing of the two brothers will attract the curse of the elders.

“It is inviting a curse in your family to kill such young souls. I also urge that justice be served to the family of the two brothers. Those who will be found guilty should face a severe punishment so that others with the same intention can learn from them,” he said.
