A chief and two senior police officers were on Tuesday charged with receiving a Sh50,000 bribe.

Lukenya chief Tirus Ndambuki Musyoka, inspector Kyalo Musyao Nthiwa of Joska police post and KBC police station boss Francis Bundi Wilson were accused of demanding a bribe of Sh50,000 from Peter Muhia to release his eight cows detained at KBC police station.

They allegedly committed the offence on March 5, 2019, at Joska police post within Machakos county.

In count two, they are alleged to have received a bribe contrary to the law.

Chief Ndambuki was also charged with receiving a bribe of Sh40,000 on March 8, 2019 from Muhia pretending that he would release his eight cows held at the station.

In the last count, Ndambuki was charged with abuse of office against the law.

He was accused of using his office to improperly confer a bribe of Sh40,000 upon himself.

They denied the charges before anti-corruption court magistrate Felix Kombo and requested lenient bond terms, saying they would adhere to the judicial process and attend hearings.

The court cautioned them against interfering with witnesses because of their status.

The three were released on a bond of Sh500,000. The case will be mentioned after two weeks.
