Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya has castigated some MPs from Mt Kenya, saying they have turned Jubilee's 'clean-up' into tribal politics.

He was referring to the recent removal of Deputy President William Ruto's allies from key Senate positions.

Munya said he tried to lobby and save former Senate Deputy Speaker Kithure Kindiki, but it was too late.

"When they [MPs] gather to castigate President Uhuru Kenyatta, they are disobedient and disloyal to their party leader," the CS said on Monday during a breakfast show on Meru FM.

“We can’t go to defend them to the parliamentary group. They should politically defend their posts and stop coming to the villages to cry foul and making it look like tribal politics.

“In politics, one plus one equals three. We may fail to secure the same seat but in the coming days we may get a bigger position.”

Munya said Kindiki failed to secure the interests of the party and that is why he was kicked out.

“I ask Kindiki to be humble and respect the party he was elected on. Remember these are the same people who used to fight my party,” Munya said.
