• The Health executive noted that since the coronavirus pandemic broke out Machakos has reported only six suspected cases which came out negative.
• This came a few hours after Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that one of the new patients hailed from Machakos county.
Machakos County has dispelled fears of a possible Covid-19 case.
Through the County Executive for health Ancent Kituku, the county said it is yet to confirm any positive case of the virus.
This came a few hours after Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that one of the new patients hailed from Machakos county.
Speaking during the daily coronavirus briefing at Afya House Kagwe said the 14 were out of the 696 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
"Out of the new 14 cases, seven are from Nairobi, two from Mombasa, two from Mandera while Machakos, Kisii and Kiambu had one case each".
But Kituku said the case might have been a patient who hails from Machakos county who was quarantine elsewhere but not within the county.
"There is a likelihood that the person might have been picked from any entry points into the country and taken to quarantine then later on tested positive for COVID 19 and the Machakos connection might just be a county of birth per his or her ID, " he observed.
In a statement sent to newsrooms, Kituku urged Machakos residents to remain calm as the health department liaises with the national government to know where exactly the patient came from.
According to Kituku, Machakos has no confirmed case of Coronavirus so far.
He noted that since the coronavirus case was reported in the country on March 13, Machakos has reported only six suspected cases which came out negative.
"I want to report to the members of the public that so far we have not confirmed case of COVID 19 within the county and the results of all six cases we have so far tested turned to be negative", said Kituku.
"Let us remain calm. Let us not be anxious because as soon as we get the correct information we are going to pass it to the members of the public so that we take the required measurement, " he noted.
Kituku urged the residents to heed to President Uhuru Kenyatta's directives in a bid to curb the spread of COVID 19 by following all the health procedures given by the Ministry of health for them to stay safe from contracting the Coronavirus.
"At this point, I want to urge the members of the public to continue observing the measures and directives issued by the National government, the county government and also the ministry of health so that we can remain free of COVID 19", he said.
