Nominated Senator Christine Zawadi has urged boda boda riders to register for their licenses after President Uhuru Kenyatta waived the fees last week.
Zawadi said many riders had challenges in getting the license due to the fees imposed by the government.
She was speaking in Kakoneni, Malindi constituency during the sensitisation of the Pamoja African Alliance Party on Tuesday.
“We thank Uhuru for waiving the license fees, I feel relieved and I'm so happy for the youths because we know most of them depend on the boda boda business,” she said.
Zawadi said the youth have suffered in the hands of security officers for lack of the licenses.
“All the youth should now go to Huduma centres and register for the documents free of charge,” she said.

She also called on residents to stop killing the elderly over witchcraft claims, saying the same will happen to them when they get old.
“Everyone is getting older each day how would you feel if you are called a witch when you grow old?” Ahmed posed.
Zawadi, who is eying the Woman Representative seat also urged residents to support PAA saying it was pushing the agendas of the people including addressing land issues.
She said PAA is pushing for the acquisition of lands owned by absentee landlords so it can be allocated to residents.
She dismissed claims that Governor Amason Kingi’s administration failed to address the land problem in his 10-year tenure.
