Kilifi county is impoverished because of poor infrastructure but I will change that if elected governor, Kazungu Kambi has said.
The former Labour CS on Saturday said he will build 300km roads, ensure there is a modern well-equipped hospital in all seven subcounties, and build a dam at River Galana to
help irrigate farms.
“All these will be geared towards spurring economic growth because infrastructure is the catalyst of economic growth all over the world,” Kambi said.
He was addressing Kilifi residents at the Karisa Maitha Grounds. He says he wants to defeat Governor Amason to “liberate the residents from the pangs of hunger”.
Kambi was endorsed by four communities — Mijikenda, Kamba, Kikuyu, Somali and the Luo.
Kilifi is the largest Coast county with about 1.1 million people.
Tourism and fishing are major economic activities. It has potential in agriculture and dairy farming, despite drought.
