Some Jubilee Coast MPs and senators yesterday said Cord is recruiting youth from Kwale and Mombasa to disrupt the Malindi by-elections.
Eight JAP supporters were injured after being stoned by supposed ODM supporters waiting for Cord leader Raila Odinga at the Malindi Airport on Monday.
The supporters were on a caravan passing by the airport on the main highway.
Kilifi North MP and Coast Parliamentary Group chairman Gideon Mung’aro yesterday addressed a press conference at the Lion In The Sun hotel, Malindi.
He said it is wrong for leaders to hire ‘gangs’ from outside Malindi to cause violence.
“We have evidence and police are aware of the plot. Youth who agree to be used to cause violence will be arrested and charged,’’ Mung’aro said.
He said Jubilee candidate Philip Charo is still in the race and urged residents to turn up in large numbers to vote for him.
Mung’aro was with Lunga Lunga MP Khatib Mwashetani and Kwale woman representative Zainab Chidzuga.
