Shehe, 5 others charged in CDF missing Sh40m with corruption

Ganze MP Peter Shehe and five Constituency Development Fund officials have been charged with graft.

Shehe and the five were charged with misappropriating more than Sh40 million CDF money in three separate cases.

Those charged alongside the legislator are Daniel Chiriba, Emmanuel Sanga, Daniel Karabu, Kelly Japhet and Musa Eyienda

The six denied the charges before Malindi chief magistrate Charles Gitonga.

In the first case, Shehe, Chiriba and Sanga are charged with conspiracy to embezzle Sh3.3 million meant for sinking and equipping Rima Ra Pera borehole between January 1 and June 30 last year.

They are also charged with corruptly receiving the money.

Chiriba and Sanga were also charged with violating the law in the management of the funds.

Chiriba is also charged with making fake CDF committee minutes dated June 25 last year in relation to the Sh3.3 million.

In the same case, Shehe and the five were charged with embezzling Sh1.49 million to supply plumbing and piping materials for the Malombani to Pondas Place water project.

They allegedly committed the offence between November 1 and November 30, 2013.

Chiriba, Shehe, Sanga and Karabu were also charged with conspiracy to embezzle Sh2.8 million for sinking and equipping Rima Ra Pera borehole between January 1 and June 30 last year.

Shehe and Karabu are charged with receiving the money.

In the second case, the six are charged with embezzling Sh999,990 meant for the supply of building materials for Kolongoni Primary School between January and June last year.

In the last case, the six are charged with embezzling Sh5.2 million for the construction of Dzitsoni-Ngamani-Jaribuni road.

Chiriba, Shehe and Sanga are also charged with embezzling Sh.2.5 million for the construction of Majajani-Mwapula road.

They were each released on Sh500,000 bond for each of the three cases, or Sh100,000 bail.

The cases will be heard between September 16 and October 9.
